Untamed is a riveting Netflix crime drama set against the awe-inspiring majesty of Yosemite National Park, where pristine beauty collides with unsettling darkness. This is a spoiler-free review.
Anchored by a commanding performance from Eric Bana as Kyle Turner, the series also stars Lily Santiago, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Sam Neill. Turner, a deeply committed National Park Service agent, is pulled into a harrowing investigation after a brutal death shatters the park’s serene façade. As he presses deeper into the case, long-buried secrets emerge—hidden not only within the wilderness, but within Turner himself. Yosemite National Park, is just as mych a charaacter of this show as the actors.
Originally conceived as a limited miniseries, Untamed struck such a strong chord with audiences that it was quickly renewed for a second season. Its potent blend of suspense, emotional weight, and breathtaking scenery makes it essential viewing for crime-thriller fans, mystery lovers, and nature buffs alike.
Spanning six tightly woven episodes, the series is a character-driven mystery that pairs haunting landscapes with gripping, deliberate storytelling. I was so thoroughly hooked that I devoured the entire season in a single weekend.
While some viewers may find the pacing measured or slow-burn, I found it immersive and richly rewarding. The finale lands with a satisfying punch, delivering twists that feel earned rather than contrived. I urge you to try Untamed and experience it yourself.
Rating
Speaking for Psycho Bob the Cat and myself, Untamed stands among the very best series of 2025 we’ve seen so far. We give it a full 5 out of 5 twitching whiskers. Eric Bana’s portrayal of Kyle Turner is layered, intense, and arguably one of the finest performances of his career.
