Well, 2025, was a pretty awesome year, especially compared to 2024, in which I suffered heart failure, surgical implamentation of a device to keep my heart pumping and three strokes. As a result we took off half of 2024 from podcasting. We did restart the show in May 2025 and published 17 episodes, one every two weeks.

Expanding the NerdHerd

We increased our audience and our reach in 2025. We added listeners from some new countries such as Finland, Singapore, Lithiuania, and Hungary. Additionally, we added new cities in Canada, Mexico, Brazil, France, and Germany.

Adding new Guests

In 2025, we had a new guest, fellow podcaster Matt Spectro Thru the Multiverse, brought back some favorie Guests such as Stew from the Stew World Order Podcast and our good friend Will King. We have booked some new guests for 2026 and we are excited to get them into the Nerd Herd.

Exploring New Topics

We have added some new topics to our tantilizing Turn of topics, such as ghosts stories, strange locations, and mysterious deaths. We will be expanding our topics in 2026 and look forward to jumping down many new rabbit holes. As we always have a constant rotation of topics.

Let's explore our top five most listened to episodes of 2025.

We had a great 2025, in October we were the #1 Geeky podcast on GoodPoods and in November we were the #1 Nerdy podcast on Goodpods. The podcast gods smiled on us again in December as we were again the #1 Nerdy podcast on Goodpods. We owe all of this to our listeners and members of the Nerd Herd. So let's explore what our listeners liked the most in 2025.

Psycho Bob Says What Be the Legend of the Flying Dutchman

Our fifth most popular episode, let's you set sail with Shakin’ Shaner and his whiskered first mate Psycho Bob as they chase the spectral sails of the most infamous ghost ship in maritime lore—the Flying Dutchman. This mini-episode of Psycho Bob Says… plunges into stormy seas, cursed captains, and devilish deals that echo across centuries. Whether you believe in cursed ships or chalk it up to tricks of light and lore, this episode is a rollicking ride through one of the sea’s most enduring mysteries. Below is the episode for you to discover on your own.

Psycho Bob Says, No Really, Pull my Finger Our fourth most listened to episode explores the bizarre and brilliant history of flatulence-as-entertainment. From medieval jesters to Moulin Rouge fart symphonists, this episode proves that passing gas has long been a performance art. Learn about, Saint Augustine’s singing farters and Ireland's Roland the Farter, who earned land for his annual Christmas toot and fart jokes from Chaucer and their deeper cultural meanings. Whether it’s satire, social rebellion, or just good old-fashioned absurdity, this episode celebrates the wind beneath history’s wings. The episode is below.

Big Trouble in Little China

Our third most popular episode of 2025 has Shakin Shaner and Psycho Bob hop aboard the Pork Chop Express to revisit John Carpenter’s neon-mystic cult classic. With special guest Stew from Stew World Order, we unpack this genre-mash love letter—martial arts, horror, comedy—where the “hero” is the sidekick and the best friend saves the day, because its all in the reflexes! Our verdict: Comfort-movie nostalgia meets kung-fu chaos and Carpenter cool.

How Bizarre

Our second most listened to episode was our first episode back after my serious health issues. This is a unique collection of bizarre and odd stories. Join Shaner and Bobber as they discuss the intersection of an outlaw, a physician and politics in Wyoming and then jump to some actual non-lethal proposals considered by the Pentagon. They close it out with a look at animal hybrids and actual research into creating a human animal hybrid. These are truly bizarre.

Hong Kong Phooey: Number One Super Guy

Our most listened to episode of 2025 was with Special guest Matt Spectro, host of Matt Spectro Through the Multiverse. He joined the Nerd Herd to reminisce, riff on trivia (Spot the cat was the real brains, folks!), and unravel why Phooey’s clumsy heroics still resonate with fans decades later. From funky theme song covers to comic book crossovers, this episode is a love letter to quirky Saturday morning glory. We hope to have Matt back on the show in 2026.

We thank all of our listeners and want to remind you that we are releasing articles every Wednesday from our website, shakinshaner.com Here is hoping that 2026 sees everyone in good health, great disposition and enjoyment of this world.

Where we revel in the passion and the madness of the Geek, the Nerd, and often the Absurd!
